Black Hayate Mini-sculpt by gryphonworks Black Hayate Mini-sculpt by gryphonworks
Wow, the new categories have got me a bit confused; hope this is in the right section....

Anyway, 'tis my favorite little pooch in Full Metal Alchemist, the adorable Black Hayate! ^.^ The camera I have kept washing out the colors no matter what lighting or angle I put it at, so this is as best as I could get. He isn't quite as shiny as he looks in the pics except for the eyes and nose which I coated with nail polish to make it look wet.
There might be some painting inaccuracies, 'cause I was only looking at one reference. If I find a mistake I'll fix and reupload the pics at a later time. xD

~1.75 inches tall, super sculpey clay painted with acrylics and accented with nail polish.

Ah, it's just a transparent top-coat thingy! Supposed to protect the nail polish, but since no one in our house constantly uses nail polish, I'm putting it to my own uses. xD Spiffy. Thanks for the comment! ^.^

It's adorable. ^_^ I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who has been swept up in the fandom that is Full Metal Alchemist. I need to find a plush one of those so I can carry it around at Anime Central - I'm going as Riza. ;D The proportions on the dog look great, I really like it!

A plushie Hayate would be adorable! :aww: Though, at least his markings are of a distinguishable breed, so you may be able to find a mass-produced plush like a toy Husky or Malamute that matches his colors. Thanks very much for your comment!

*cracks up* Oh I so love you. x3 I was watching FMA just the night before last! I ran out of episodes. Stupid guy didn't send the next part. u.u I love how Hawkeye trains him. Poor pooch. x3

Great sculpting job on this. I like how you used the nail polish to make it look wet. I probably would have never thought of that.

That's cute! Say how do you get your figurines so smooth? I just did one and I don't know how you get away with no finger prints in the mold...

I just smooth things out with my finger. But there are fingerprints on it, since it's pretty hard to get rid of every little mark... especially when working with little things; you hold it somewhere to smooth out another place, then the spot where you held it is now messed up. =P
Thanks for the comment!

Wire's really helpful. It holds up weight and maintains shape. Hayate needed some in his legs since his body was too plump for his legs to hold on their own... xD

So any kind of wire? Sorry for all the questions... I really want to make a good sculpture

Depends on the size of your sculpture! For my small ones I've bought a few different gauge sizes of floral wire, though I use a much thicker one for my large figures (a big spool bought at Home Depot). Gauges 12, 20 and 30 are the ones I use, methinks... since I threw out the labels.
