I wanted to try starting this project in my head of making a GLaDOS sculpture out of clay. Took a bunch of reference screenshots, gathered up my materials and was raring to go!
Then I sat at my desk for nearly 2 hours straight just fiddling with the clay and wires before finally coming to the extraordinary conclusion that I have no idea how I'm gonna go about sculpting this. xD I've never sculpted anything remotely robotic in my life, let alone a robotic figure at the size I want it to be (I'm aiming for dimensions of 10" x 6" x 6" or something along those lines). A big sculpt is gonna need a lot of details to be more realistic, and my hands are blatantly disobeying my brain when I yell at them to just try it and see what happens. Dx Rawr.
So in a last-ditch effort to make my 2 hours of ruminating appear less pointless, I made a little GLaDOS. She's a little warped cause I accidentally forgot her in the oven for a few minutes Baked, but no cake! :< but oh well. I also need to practice painting with a more steady hand. xP There's another obstacle I need to figure out sooner or later... How am I going to make a display base for the planned big sculpture? It'll look odd for all those wires to just kinda taper off like some kind of tail. o_o;
Sculpted with super sculpey clay, wire, acrylic paints and black thread. About 3 inches tall. The brass hanger's actually supposed to go with a hanging hummingbird figurine, but hey it works for her too!
GlaDOS! <3 congracts, you deserve cake for this masterpiece! hrm... as for the wires tapering off.. i guess you could do the big white bits that actualy say Glados on them, to cover up where the wires disapere too.. but waather that would look better or worse.. i dont know XD

Thanks for the comment! For this particular sculpture, I baked then painted it. The super sculpey that I buy in bulk is a beige/pinkish color. Super Sculpey III comes in a multitude of colors but they're sold in smaller packages.

I wonder if this is gonna have a long-lasting effect on overall sanity in the future. x3
You will never look at cake, 3D cubed mathematical figures, or the words 'Are you still there?' the same way. Ever.
