Oh man oh man, totally loved this movie! Seems that I fall in love with Pixar more with every new release. I'm not going to critique it or anything since it's not really what I do, but it was so cute and heartwarming while also hinting at what our potential future can be... it gives you something to think about.

Oh, and it's no surprise that EVE reminds me of Aperture Science. xD Or that Auto and GLaDOS would probably hit it off real well (she'd probably envy him for being more maneuverable though). Heck all of the characters are quirky and lovable. Grahhhhh I feel so bubbly inside right now. C:

I wanna watch it again. And again. And again.

*happy sigh*

I'm prolly just blind or something, but I can't seem to find a good Gordon Freeman model anywhere. I have Kathar's version, and it's okay, IMO... but I've seen other higher resolution ones and I'd rather use that ._. So until then, Gordon will always be conveniently unavailable when it comes to picture timez (he must've gotten caught up with a slow elevator somewhere) =P And since I am bored and have no life, I'll throw the random GMod stuff I like into the webcam slot. A-ha, now it has a use!

I finally found a feeder rat seller within driving distance and I picked up 25 medium ones. Homagawd, they are cute rats. :< Smelly, but still cute. One rat is in the fridge until I feed it to STILL UNNAMED Snakey who seems to slowly be getting used to me. I still don't know what to do when she starts moving really quickly when I'm handling her. She'll be all chill for like 10-20 minutes, then suddenly she'll be taking off like a very large and frightened mottled noodle. At least I'm getting over my initial fear of sticking my hands in her tank. xD

Pet Stuff

Well, after some ups and downs in the past week I'm feeling more calm about Choco passing away. Thanks to all who supported me in the past journal, it helped very much. =) We had her cremated and now she is in a nice cedarwood urn in the living room. The plaque that came with the urn is nice, but generic ("my beloved pet") so we're thinking of getting a custom engraving of her name to add to it. We'll also be picking some pictures to put on the wall above the urn. It will be her little spot in the house where we can all see it every day.

In other news, I got my snake about an hour ago, and what bad timing I have! Her belly is pink and her eyes are clouded - she's in the middle of shedding and that's one of the times when they get very irritable and skittish. She was curled up in the burlap sack when I opened the box (which smelled kinda funny, I wonder if that's normal snake smell x.x) I took her out and held her for awhile, looking her over to see if she's healthy. I didn't notice anything abnormal on her, and I think she looks great if not a little dull from the pending shed.

But it was a very quick change. She was probably a little blinded by the sudden sunlight when I took her out so she didn't move much, but suddenly she was trying to wriggle out of my arms and she even tried to bite me a few times =p I wanted to take some nice pictures of her but she's just so stressed out right now, so I put her in the tank after looking her over. I'm just hoping that her temperament will be more mellow after she gets time to shed and settle into her new home. Here's a few decent shots I did get for now though:

I put her in the box after she started to flip out while I was holding her. She's ready to strike again D:

Moving in the tank

She went into a hide for a few minutes, then suddenly came out and was moving all over the cage, smelling everything. She kept poking along the lid screen before she went back into her hide

The room was pretty dark when I took this pic (not to mention I didn't bother buying any viewing lights and the tank is covered on 3 sides and the top), but that's the flash for ya. LOL & my oh so intricate locking mechanism at the top! :B

(That big white blob is a shirt I tossed in there so she can get used to my stinky human smell. Hopefully.) No name yet!

I'll miss you, my friend...

Our 14 year old dachshund mix died earlier this morning. She'd been having increasing heart problems in the past few months, and meds have only helped a bit. She was also getting random but short seizures, usually early in the morning and in general she's just seemed so ill and worn out.

My sister brought her to an emergency clinic late last night because she'd been having trouble breathing; an X-ray showed that she had a lot of fluid in her lungs from congestive heart failure. They decided to keep her overnight to monitor her until we could bring her to our primary veterinarian. Around 1am the ER vet calls to say that her heart stopped and despite rescue efforts, had passed away. The strangest part was when he called 15 minutes later to say that she somehow had come back - her heart was beating again and she was breathing on her own, though she was very weak and not likely to stay stable. He said that it was a miracle that she came back, and we immediately drove over to visit her for what felt like the last time we'd be seeing her alive. From the previous assessments and similar cases, he felt she did not have a good prognosis. So we decided that if her heart were to stop again, to give her painkillers and allow her to pass away peacefully.

At 5am we got his call, she had indeed coded again and he followed through with our wishes.

Choco, you were a wonderful companion to our family, and I hope that you're happy and carefree, wherever you are.

Eeeeeee~ I'm so giddy! I'm finally able to get a pet snake, I've been wanting one for years but haven't been able to, but now I can! :D I'd previously done research on some of the species I'm interested in, but now I still feel like I need to read more. Due to the agreement with my parents I've got limitations, and basically I need to find something akin to a Sinaloan Milksnake in size and coloration.

That's all fine and dandy, Sinaloans are beautiful, but I can't seem to find any reputable sellers! u__u I dun want any fancy colorations or anything, just a nice, clean, healthy Sin. A site that looks pretty good is VMS Herp, but they won't get any new ones in stock until July. Now I'm finding myself eyeing an older Nelson's Milksnake at a store that's just a short drive from my house, but admittedly I'm rather picky. .___. The stripes are pretty thick on the Nelson, and in general they tend to be smaller in size. (And you gotta admit, Sinaloan just sounds so much purtier than "Nelson"!)Yeah I know, I'm bad.
If I had the option though, I'd get a ball python or two. They're just so adorable and stubby and ROUND. xD And I hear they're generally very mellow, too. Totally would suit me.

EDIT: H'okay so the situation's changed a bit, I can get a ballie after all! Woo~ I think I'm gonna be getting one of them fellas instead of the Sinny. o3o

Gawd I know I need to take things slowly, research seller's websites and equipment qualities and not make any rush purchases that I could regret, but man, it's hard! Any snake owners out there? I'd love to hear any funny/interesting stories or tips on these guys. :3

RAWR RAWR WANT SNAAAAAAKEEE snaaaake snake snakeeeeokayI'mdone. ;_;

In other news, still trundling along with my last summer course. Compared to my Advanced Med/Surg rotation, this public health stuff is a lot simpler. But it also seems like something I could go into... not totally sure yet though.
